Lake Eufaula State Park

Highway 69 & Hwy 150

Formerly known as Fountainhead State Park, Lake Eufaula State Park is a great choice for an Oklahoma getaway. Whether the stay is short or long-term, a visit to this state park is guaranteed to be memorable. The park is located just south of I-40 near Checotah, in eastern Oklahoma. Situated on Lake Eufaula, a 102,000 acre reservoir, there are many activities available for visitors on both land and water.

On land, Oklahoma's diverse foliage and wildlife can be observed on hiking trails such as the Bluebird Trail. Visitors can bring bikes to get around the expansive park and take a ride on one of the mountain bike trails. Visit the on-site Lake Eufaula Stables and saddle up for a guided horseback ride or bring your own horse and explore the trails. The Deep Fork Nature Center educates visitors about native animals and plant species, and kids and adults can participate in naturalist programs and activities. For kids, the park offers many playgrounds and a fishing pond.

Quiet. Sand and grass mixed sites, though pads are paved. Electrical needs up dating. Easy access to sites. Some sites have good distances between them, and many have ample shade. Dogwood area bathroom could use some TLC; shower walls in the men's room have some issues. A gas station located about 3 miles from Dogwood area is best convenience and has a deli store. Not much tourist stuff in the town of Eufaula or Checotaw.

We enjoyed Lake Eufaula State Park. The staff was very friendly and the campsites were level, shaded and had nice grills and fire pits. Since we went on Memorial Day weekend we anticipated it being packed and it was. However, the bathrooms and showers were old, undersized and not very clean. They definitely weren't built to accommodate a full park. We were disappointed in the limited access to fishing. Hiking was decent and the disc golf course was in decent shape.

I love this Lake it is huge with more shoreline than the Great Lakes. Fishing is pretty good and the atmosphere very laid-back

Great place for family fun! Water is always dirty due to red dirt sediment. Something you just have to deal with. Lots of picnic tables, rv hook ups, camping sites, multiple playgrounds, and bathrooms with shower. Hope to visit again soon!
