McAlester CultureFest


On September 22 & 23, 2018, historic downtown McAlester will play host to McAlester’s 6th annual CultureFest event.

This Free festival is held each year to honor and highlight multiple cultures and traditions of our local and area communities. Downtown Choctaw Avenue will be filled with fun, family-friendly activities.  Live cultural music and entertainment will be abundant all day, along with beautiful performances by dancers in traditional, colorful dress. There will be a fun-filled Kids Zone, cultural exhibits and demonstrations, delicious food offerings  and unique shopping opportunities  that are sure to attract the interest of every visitor.  New this year is the addition of the ChalkFest show and competition featuring the works of professional chalk artist and local competitors.  You will also experience the world of Germany as we begin to showcase the countries of our global world. Each coming year we will add to and introduce a new country as we begin to build our world community within the festival.

​CultureFest is a project of the McAlester Area Arts & Humanities Council with assistance from the City of McAlester Tourism office, McAlester Main Street, a dedicated group of volunteers and the many generous sponsors who help make this festival possible.

Downtown McAlester, nestled in the heart of town, is a great setting for the festival. Featuring timeless historic architecture, this Main Street designated district is home to unique shopping, great dining, elegant wineries, and other enchanting businesses. Dont forget to purchase a "Passport" and shop the many specialty boutiques, antique merchants, gift stores, and fine clothing shops during the event! You'll receive a special memento from each participating merchant and, upon completion of your world tour, be eligible to enter for a grand prize drawing to be give at the end of the day on Saturday.The area is also in close proximity to the Farmer’s Market, nightlife venues, and other points of interest.
